When is a deal not a deal?

My wife and I have pets. Even though they are indoor pets, they still sometimes can get fleas if they get out or the weather gets hot. When they do, we like to use a product called Advantage. It is the most expensive flea abatement program out there, and we were getting tired of paying so much a month. So when we saw a competing product on sale for almost half less, we thought “This is a deal!” We bought the product and applied it to our pets.

Normally, the Advantage works within a couple of days. Well, a week goes by and the fleas are not going away. We decide to apply the competing product again, thinking maybe we did something wrong last time. Another week and there are still fleas. And they are getting worse. My wife and I finally break down and buy another batch of the Advantage and apply it. Within 3 day, the fleas were almost gone and by the end of the week our flea problem was gone.

What Happened? I thought we were getting a deal. Well, sometimes a deal is not a deal. If your product costs half as much but you have to use TWICE as much, there is no deal. And when you realize you are using twice as much, you start to wonder if something is wrong.

Nothing, though, is wrong. It’s simply the way the world works.

When you go to a dispensary for $45 an 8th medicine, that is what you get. You can donate $90 for a quarter, and it lasts as long as that 8th of insane OG you had a few weeks back. You complained that the price was a little high then. Yet now, here you are paying $90 for what you could have had for $65. And you think you are getting a deal.

Next time you are looking for medicine, think about this. It’s your hard earned money.

Donate wisely.
